María de Echevarría

FIELDS OF LIGHT

In celebration of spring, New Concept Gallery has dedicated a room to showcase the work of guest artist María de Echevarría.  María will be displaying paintings from her “Fields” series, a luminous collection of abstract works created with oils over acrylics.

When asked to describe her work, María said, "My paintings start from an intense need to paint. Nature, lines and colors spark that need. I have a tendency to eliminate details and to use a controlled number of colors.  Several paintings are undertaken at the same time, applying layers of acrylics first, and once they are dry, layers of oil. I work on the canvas until the painting gets its ‘soul’. I feel they are part of me, and it is exhilarating to see them become a part of other people’s lives. I have studios in New Mexico and New York.”
María’s work has been showcased at the United Nations Headquarters in New York; the Salón Galería, Consulate of Argentina, New York; and the Palacio San Martín, Buenos Aires.
