Showcasing a mastery of color and texture, Calla Klessig Sentić creates work that reflects a profound reverence for the land, sky, and their wild spirit. Her richly textured paintings express a deep connection to nature—exploring themes of healing, transformation, and renewal—while inviting viewers into moments of gentle change, quiet strength, and the enduring beauty of these Western landscapes.
Nurturing her creativity from an early age, she began oil painting at age 8. Her lifelong love of painting, art, and design led her to attend the Maryland Institute, College of Art, graduating with a BFA. Klessig Sentić had a 17-year career in the film industry, where her work as an Art Director served as a three-dimensional compositional counterpoint to her fine artworks. Even while working on blockbuster films, Calla never forgot her first love—painting. Eventually, the desire for a quieter and more fulfilling life led her to leave her work in film behind. She moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she now lives as a full-time artist. A perpetual student of color and light, of the moods and vagaries of the weather, she gathers much of her inspiration from her extensive explorations of the wildlands of the Southwest and beyond. |
